Behind the Scenes: The Real Prep Before the Show

People see the final performance, but the real magic happens long before I step on stage. Here is a candid look at the rehearsals, the vanity van madness, and everything else that goes into bringing a show to life.

A fun-filled ride while shooting for the song 'Prarambha Payana'. This is a little behind the scenes look at how much fun we have on a shoot.

Chilling in the jeep between takes for the 'Prarambha Payana' music video. It was a beautiful day and a really fun shoot.

Another shot from the 'Dare Devil Mustafa' song shoot. The locations were so green and beautiful.

More behind the scenes madness from the 'Prarambha Payana' shoot. Look at the cameraman's dedication, sitting on the hood of the jeep.

A group selfie with the entire team after a successful day of shooting for 'Dare Devil Mustafa'. Teamwork makes the dream work.

Backstage shenanigans in the vanity van before a show in Mysuru. We are always having fun and keeping the energy high.

More fun in the vanity van with Vasuki Vaibhav and the team. A little bit of madness before we hit the stage is a must.

About this collection

A lot of people think a live gig is just showing up and singing, but the real work is in the soundcheck. Whether it is balancing acoustic instruments for a baithak or managing a 6-piece electric band, that hour before the show is when we actually lock in the vibe. We are constantly tweaking levels and talking to the FOH engineer to make sure your venue sounds exactly like a concert hall, not just a loud room.

Life on the road isn't always glitz and glamour, but honestly, I wouldn’t trade it. Most of my weekends are spent in transit—traveling to gigs in Bengaluru, Mysuru, or across Karnataka—with my bandmates. The images here show the real story: the long drives, the impromptu jam sessions in the back of a jeep during shoot days, and the essential, slightly chaotic moments in the vanity van before we hit the stage.

My music style shifts depending on the crowd, and our prep shifts with it. For a high-energy college fest, the backstage vibe is all about caffeine and checking the pedalboards. For a traditional Bhavageethe or Sugama Sangeeta performance, the energy is quieter, focused on vocal nuances and coordinating with the Tabla player.

No matter the event, my team and I treat the soundcheck as our mini-rehearsal. We don't just 'test' the mics; we make sure the acoustic balance is perfect for the room. It is that attention to detail, combined with the love for our work, that helps us translate the energy backstage to the main stage. If you are looking for a multilingual live singer who brings that same energy to your event, let’s chat.

Hi, I’m Sunidhi. I live for the mic and the crowd’s energy, but I’m just as happy geeking out over audio levels with my sound engineer or laughing with my band backstage. Music is my life, and I’m lucky enough to share that journey with all of you.
