Behind the Scenes: My Rehearsal and Jamming Process

Before the lights go down and the PA system hits, there is a lot of sweat, tuning, and good old-fashioned jamming. Here is how I work out the songs before they hit the stage.

A candid shot from a jam session. This is where the magic happens, figuring out parts and just connecting through the music.

Another angle from the same jam session. It's all about collaboration and finding the right feel for each song.

A rehearsal video of us playing "How Blue Can You Get?" This was for our originals set, but we had to throw in a few classic blues covers.

A moment of discussion during a rehearsal. It's a process of constant communication to get the sound just right.

A wide shot of the Ananth Menon Quartet rehearsing for our Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute night. You can see the full setup in my home studio.

Another shot from our "Full Meals down by the Wayside" jam session. The focus is intense when we're locking in a groove.

A close-up during the same jam. You can see the concentration as we work through the arrangement.

One more look at our jam session. These moments are just as important as the final performance on stage.

The band having a laugh at the end of a rehearsal for our CCR night. We work hard, but we always make sure to have a good time.

About Behind the Scenes: The Making of the Music

People usually see the final polished set on stage, but the real work happens right here in my home studio. It is messy, full of tangled cables, and often interrupted by debates over guitar voicings or which rhythm fits a bridge. We spend hours locking in that groove long before the venue sound check, which is why when we finally hit the stage, we are actually listening to each other instead of just playing through the setlist.

How We Get Ready for a Gig

Every performance you see, whether it is a high-energy classic rock tribute or an intimate solo blues set, starts in this room. My rehearsal process is less about rigid repetition and more about finding the right feel.

When I am with the Quartet, our jam sessions are dynamic. We might spend thirty minutes just working on the transition between two verses of a Clapton cover to make sure it breathes. We do not just run through the songs; we disassemble them and put them back together. If you watch my rehearsal videos, you will see us figuring out harmonies, adjusting gear, and honestly, just enjoying the process of playing together.

Why This Matters for Your Event

I treat every gig as a collaborative effort. By putting in the work at these rehearsals, we ensure that the technical side—the sound levels, the stage monitors, the transitions—is handled before we even set foot in your venue.

If you are hiring the band for a tribute night or an original set, you are not just getting musicians who show up and play; you are getting a unit that has spent weeks in the studio perfecting that specific vibe. Whether we are preparing for a brewery show in Koramangala or a house concert, the preparation remains the same. We focus on the gear, the mix, and the arrangement, so you get a tight, professional sound without the chaos. If you have questions about the technical requirements for your specific space, I am always happy to walk you through what we need.
