About 3D & Textured Art
When you opt for 3D or textured nails, the main concern is usually durability. I use extra layers of high-strength builder gel to reinforce every sculpted element, from delicate sweater knits to bold chrome accents. These sets are sturdy, but they do require a little more care than flat polish, especially when dealing with heavy maximalist pieces. It is a bit more maintenance, but honestly, the tactile vibe is totally worth it.
Why Texture Changes Everything
Sometimes a flat coat of polish just doesn't cut it. My 3D and textured art is for when you want your nails to do more than just look good, they need to have character. Whether it is the 'sweater weather' knit effect that makes you want to snuggle up, or metallic chrome detailing that catches every light, these sets are built to be seen and felt.
The Process Behind the Texture
Creating these isn't as simple as painting. Each sculpted nail requires a solid foundation. I build the base with heavy-duty builder gel, which gives the art enough support so it won't snap off while you're going about your day.
- For Cozy/Sweater Nails: I hand-sculpt the cable-knit patterns while the gel is still uncured, building it up layer by layer until it has that perfect, soft-touch texture.
- For Maximalist 3D: When we are talking about food items, clay charms, or gems, I use a combination of acrylic and hard gel to ensure they stay secure on the nail plate.
Caring for Your 3D Sets
Because these designs have physical dimensions, they are not quite as invincible as a solid color set. If you are going for long extensions or heavy maximalist designs, treat your nails like accessories. Use your pads to type or pick up items rather than the tips of your nails. Since all my sets are custom-fit, they will feel secure, but a little mindfulness goes a long way in keeping that texture looking fresh.
