When you opt for high-shine finishes like chrome or chunky glitter, the foundation matters more than the color. We almost always recommend a gel or acrylic base for these designs because it levels out the nail bed to prevent patchiness and ensures the reflective particles catch the light perfectly. If you are choosing a specific chrome or cat-eye effect, let us know your preferred length so we can prep the ideal tip shape during your appointment.
How to Get the Best Shine
Chrome, glitter, and bling designs are all about texture and reflection. Whether you want the seamless, mirror-like finish of our unicorn chrome or the depth of a magnetic cat-eye, the secret lies in the prep work.
- Chrome & Mirror Finishes: These require a completely smooth surface. If your natural nails have ridges, we apply a smoothing gel base coat before adding the chrome powder. This ensures you get that true liquid-metal look rather than a grainy finish.
- Cat-Eye & Reflective Gels: These rely on magnetic particles within the polish. We use specialized tools to manipulate these particles while they are wet, creating deep, velvet-like waves. It takes a steady hand, which is why we practice these techniques extensively in our academy.
- Glitter & Encapsulation: For extra durability, we often encapsulate glitter within a layer of hard gel. This keeps the glitter smooth and prevents the 'gritty' feeling you might get with cheaper applications. Plus, it makes the nails incredibly strong.
Maintaining Your Look
