Saree & Jewellery Portraits
Studio portrait sessions in Kothanur focusing on the texture of your ethnic wear and the fine details of temple jewellery.
A classic portrait against a solid black background. This setup is perfect for making the intricate details of the antique-finish temple jewellery and the sheen of the silk saree pop.
This pose is designed to showcase the complete jewellery set, from the necklace and earrings to the bangles. The downward gaze creates a soft, elegant mood.
A simple, natural pose of adjusting an earring draws the viewer's attention directly to the jewellery. It’s an effective way to get a detailed shot that doesn't feel staged.
A full-length portrait to showcase the beautiful drape and fall of the brown silk saree. The side lighting adds depth and highlights the texture of the fabric.
A direct, full-length view showing the complete look. This type of shot is essential for portfolios, clearly presenting the saree, blouse, and full jewellery set.
About Saree & Jewellery Portraits
I don't use flat, bright room lighting for these portraits. I work with a solid black backdrop and directional lighting to make the silk of the saree and the antique finish of temple jewellery pop. This setup forces the camera to focus on the styling, not just the background.
When you are trying to capture the look of a heavy silk saree or the intricate work on traditional jewellery, the standard 'bright' studio setup usually washes everything out. That is why I stick to a controlled, moody environment at my Kothanur studio.
My approach is about isolating the subject. By using deep black backdrops and creative lighting, I can highlight the sheen of the fabric and the gold-work without distractions. This style is perfect for models and artists who need high-impact portfolio images that feel dramatic rather than commercial.
Since this is my creative passion, I treat every session like a collaboration. We decide on the poses, the focus on the jewellery, and the specific angles that show off the drape of the saree. If you have an ethnic collection or a specific look you want to document, let me know.
What to expect at a session:
- Lighting: High-contrast studio lighting to define textures.
- Posing: Guidance on subtle, elegant poses that showcase jewellery and hand mudras.
- Outcome: High-resolution edits that are ready for social media or your portfolio.
I prefer working with people who share this artistic vision. If you are just looking for a standard, paid-only service, this isn't for you. But if you want to build a portfolio with someone who cares about the art form, we will have a great time shooting.
