Outdoor Traditional & Heritage Portraits in Bangalore
I head outdoors to capture the mix of ethnic wear and Bangalore's raw landscapes. These are collaborative sessions built around natural light, heritage architecture, and capturing genuine movement.
We used the wind to our advantage here, capturing the movement of the golden saree against the static, rugged texture of the rock. It creates a feeling of drama and elegance.
This reel shows how we use the outdoor environment for dynamic shots. It includes wide shots on top of the rocks and fluid movements that look amazing on video.
A seated portrait on a large boulder. The soft, natural light of the evening sky complements the rich red velvet of the lehenga and the intricate ethnic jewellery.
A candid-style shot using a mirror prop. This pose feels personal and reflective, set against the natural, earthy tones of the rocky landscape.
This wide shot incorporates the surrounding environment, with a traditional temple arch visible in the distance. It adds context and a sense of place to the portrait.
Playing with the setting sun to create a beautiful lens flare. This technique adds a warm, dreamy quality to the image while silhouetting the model's form.
A full-length view of the model posed on the rocks. The bright, overcast sky acts like a giant softbox, providing even lighting that is flattering for portraits.
A relaxed, reclining pose that showcases the full traditional outfit. The composition uses the natural lines of the rocks to lead the eye towards the model.
A closer portrait that captures a gentle expression. The temple arch in the background frames the shot and reinforces the traditional theme of the photoshoot.
About Outdoor Traditional Shoots
When I take a shoot outside, I step away from studio lighting to work with the natural golden hour glow and the textures of Bangalore's rugged heritage spots. We plan these sessions to focus on how your ethnic wear moves against the environment, whether it's the stone of a temple arch or the open rocky terrain, rather than just posing for a static camera.
My outdoor work is about balancing the elegance of traditional attire with the chaos of a natural setting. I prefer locations that feel earthy and grounded—places like rocky terrains or quiet temple outskirts where we can use natural light as our primary source.
How We Shoot Outdoors
- Natural Lighting: I schedule these shoots during the golden hour to get that soft, warm light that makes jewellery and silk sarees pop without harsh shadows.
- Movement Focus: Unlike studio shoots where we control every inch, outdoor work is about capturing flow. I will ask you to move, walk, or adjust your pose to see how the fabric reacts to the wind or the environment.
- Collaboration Basics: Since these are collaboration shoots, I am looking for models or artists who have a vision. You bring the outfit, the concept, and the styling, and I bring the technical eye and the gear to capture it. We share the content afterwards for our portfolios.
Preparing for Your Shoot
If you want to create something high-quality, come prepared. You will need to arrange your own makeup and costume, as I focus entirely on the photography, composition, and direction. Whether you are a classical dancer wanting to showcase mudras in an open space or just want ethnic portraits with a dramatic, cinematic background, let's keep the focus on creating art. Avoid messaging if you are looking for a standard commercial photoshoot; I do this for the creative challenge, not the paycheck.
