How I Approach Still Life

I started my painting journey in 2019, and unlike my caricatures, this work is about slowing down. Painting objects requires a different kind of focus. It is not just about drawing lines; it is about capturing the way light hits a glass or the mood of a quiet corner.

Materials and Process

I work primarily with heavy-body acrylics because they give me the texture I like, though I have started experimenting with oil paints for certain pieces.

• Surfaces: Depending on the vibe you want, I paint on stretched canvas for a gallery feel or wooden sheets for a more rustic look.
• Finish: Every painting is coated with a gloss or matte varnish. This seals the work, prevents dust damage, and stops the colors from fading over time.
• Timeline: Because I layer the paint to get the right depth and wait for it to dry properly, I typically need 7 to 10 days to complete a piece. I never rush this part because the drying time is essential for quality.

Framing

For these paintings, I do not use glass. I prefer using a sturdy outer box frame or decorative molding. This lets you see the actual texture of the paint and the brushstrokes. If you have a specific space in your home, like a wall that needs a pop of color or a dedicated spot for religious art, let me know.
