Premium IPE Wood Pool Decks for Outdoor Living
Upgrade your pool area with genuine Brazilian IPE wood that handles the Delhi sun, rain, and heavy use without constant maintenance.
This video shows the seamless curve of an IPE wood deck I built around a freeform pool. The precision in cutting and fitting each plank is key to achieving this elegant, flowing design.
A complete IPE wood deck surrounds this rooftop pool, providing a clean, expansive, and non-slip surface for lounging and walking.
This wide shot shows the scale of a large rooftop terrace decked entirely in IPE wood tiles. The consistent grain and rich color elevate the entire outdoor area.
Another perspective of the rooftop deck, showing how the linear pattern of the IPE wood planks creates a sense of depth and space.
The IPE decking provides a warm, natural contrast to the cool tones of the water and the modern glass railings of the building.
A close-up view of the IPE wood deck tiles. You can see the rich color variation and tight grain that make this wood so sought after for luxury outdoor flooring.
Even narrow walkways benefit from IPE decking. Here, it creates a safe and attractive path alongside the pool's edge, connecting different areas of the terrace.
About Premium IPE Wood Pool Decks
The secret to a deck that lasts isn't just the IPE wood itself, it is how we handle the sub-framing. We build a leveled mild steel base that allows for proper drainage, ensuring that no water sits underneath the planks to cause rot. On-site, we use hidden stainless steel clips instead of nails so the surface stays perfectly smooth and barefoot-friendly for years.
Why IPE is the Gold Standard
When we talk about outdoor flooring in Delhi, most materials fail because of the extreme weather—the scorching summer heat, the heavy monsoon, and then the dry winter. IPE (also known as Brazilian Ironwood) is one of the few natural materials dense enough to withstand these shifts. It is naturally fire-retardant and resistant to rot, termites, and fungal decay without needing the heavy chemical treatments that cheaper softwoods require.
The Installation Process
We don't just lay wood down. Our process is about structural longevity:
- Sub-Framing: We construct a raised base frame using rust-resistant mild steel hollow pipes. This is leveled perfectly on your existing concrete or stone floor to ensure stability.
- Precision Joinery: Each IPE plank is cut to match the specific layout, whether you have a freeform pool or a standard rectangular terrace. We account for expansion gaps, which are critical; if wood is installed too tight, it will warp when it expands during the humid rainy season.
- Hidden Fasteners: We exclusively use stainless steel (SS 304 or 316) concealed clips. This means there are no nails poking out to hurt bare feet and no screw heads visible to rust and spoil the look.
Maintenance Reality
IPE is low maintenance, but not 'no' maintenance. Because it is a natural hardwood, it will eventually lose its dark, rich color to UV exposure, turning a silvery grey over time. If you want to keep that deep brown warmth, we recommend an annual or bi-annual oiling with specialized outdoor timber oils. We sand the surface back, buff it, and re-oil it to restore that brand-new look. My team and I handle the entire lifecycle—from the initial material selection and hoisting heavy timber to rooftops, to the final cleanup on site.
