Automotive Design and Detail Photography
Capturing the art behind the engineering. These frames focus on the curves, lines, and textures of classic and modern automotive icons.
A classic Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, a true icon of automotive history. I wanted to capture the elegance of its open doors and the vintage feel of the museum setting.
A study in classic car design. The vibrant red leather interior and steering wheel of a vintage Mercedes convertible next to the unmistakable headlight of another classic. These are the details that car lovers appreciate.
Close-up shots focusing on the beautiful lines and textures of classic cars. From the rear fin of a Mercedes to the grille of a vintage Porsche, I love finding the art in the engineering.
A tale of two Porsches. I contrasted the modern curves of a silver Porsche 911 with the classic rear design of a vintage red model, showing the evolution of an iconic brand.
An artistic composition from the Porsche museum, playing with angles and reflections. The image contrasts the futuristic lines of a concept car with the classic shape of a green Porsche 911.
A dramatic, high-contrast shot of a Porsche 911 safety car, using shadows to create a powerful mood. The other half of the image shows the minimalist architecture of the museum, adding context and scale.
About Automotive Design & Details
I focus on the lines. When shooting static automotive design, I don't just grab a wide shot. I hunt for the reflections in the chrome and the texture of the leather interiors. It is about isolating the design elements that make a car legendary, usually by minimizing background distractions to let the vehicle’s shape dominate the frame.
There is a massive difference between covering a Red Bull event and photographing a stationary car in a museum. When I am at a track, I am fighting for speed and motion blur. Here, in the automotive detail work, I am fighting for stillness and perfect light.
My approach relies on knowing how to use reflections. A car is essentially a large, expensive mirror. If I am not careful, I end up shooting myself or the ceiling. I use specific angles to define the car's body panels, often getting low to the ground to make the vehicle look grounded and powerful, even when it is parked. I rely on high-resolution sensors and prime lenses to capture the badge textures, the stitching on the seats, and the gauge clusters without any distortion.
Whether it is a classic Mercedes or a modern Porsche, I treat the shoot like a portrait session. Cars have faces and moods, just like people. I look for the 'hero angle' that tells the story of the era it was built in. If you are a collector looking for gallery-quality shots of your garage, or a brand needing product imagery that feels less like a catalog and more like art, this is the vibe I bring. I am based in Mumbai and equipped to travel if you have a specific location or museum shoot in mind.
