Bonsai, Zen and Miniature Garden Design
I create peaceful corners for your home and office using living art. From mature, sculpted bonsai trees to calm zen dry-scapes, these designs bring nature close to you without needing a large lawn.
The finished look of a compact Zen garden. This design uses a dry river of white pebbles, smooth rocks, and small shrubs like Juniper to create a peaceful scene that requires very little maintenance.
Here I am giving the final touches to a Zen garden installation. Every element is placed carefully by hand to achieve a balanced and natural look, perfect for a quiet corner of a home or office.
A magnificent, mature Ficus bonsai tree. These large, sculpted trees are living sculptures that I source and install as stunning centerpieces for exclusive gardens and landscapes.
Another example of a large, multi-trunk bonsai. The intricate trunk and branch structure is the result of many years of specialized pruning and care.
This image showcases several large bonsai trees, including some with exposed roots, known as the "root-over-rock" style. I can provide a variety of aged and styled bonsai for different garden themes.
A creative miniature tray garden I designed. It features small Araucaria plants that look like a forest, complete with a tiny house and a swan, making for a charming and unique decorative piece.
About Bonsai, Zen & Miniature Gardens
For these setups, the real work happens before you place a single stone. Whether we are building a zen garden or installing a large bonsai centerpiece, I always lay a heavy-duty geotextile weed mat first. It prevents unwanted weeds from pushing through your decorative river stones or pebbles, so you aren't spending your weekends pulling grass out of your peaceful corner instead of enjoying it.
Creating a miniature landscape or a zen space is about controlling the environment to create a feeling of balance. Over my 30 years of horticulture work, I have found that these smaller installations often require more precision than a full lawn.
Zen & Dry-Scape Landscaping
I build these using a specific layering technique. First, we level the ground, then install a durable weed control fabric. We follow this with decorative aggregates like white marble chips or blue river stones. I add specimen plants—like Junipers or Thuja—strategically to act as focal points. This design style is perfect for low-maintenance areas where you want a clean, meditative look.
Mature Bonsai Installation
These are living sculptures. I source mature, sculpted trees that have been trained for years. When I install a bonsai, I check the lighting and airflow at your location first. A bonsai is not just a plant; it is an architectural piece. If you have an empty office lobby or a feature corner at home, these trees add a level of sophistication that smaller potted plants simply cannot match.
Miniature Tray Gardens
These are creative, playful arrangements. I use miniature figurines, tiny houses, and slow-growing plants like Araucaria to create entire worlds in a tray. They are excellent for desks, coffee tables, or gifting.
My team handles the full setup—from bringing in the right soil mix and stones to positioning the plants for optimal health. We focus on the details so you get a living piece of art that lasts.
