About My Heritage: A Legacy of Thread
In my studio, you will learn that true hand embroidery is as much about discipline as it is about art. Specifically, with Kasuti, we work towards a finish where both sides of the fabric are identical—no knots allowed. It is a standard of precision that transforms a simple piece of cloth into a lasting heirloom, and it is a technique you will master during our sessions.
My journey with the needle started in 1963, guided by the patient hands of my mother. Those early lessons, preserved in her old tailoring journals, are the foundation of everything I teach today. When you walk into my Koramangala studio, you are not just attending a class; you are stepping into a legacy.
Why Learn Heritage Embroidery?
Hand embroidery is a slow, meditative practice. In a world of fast fashion and instant notifications, picking up a needle helps you reset. It is a skill that demands presence, patience, and a bit of heart. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to refine specific techniques, there is a space here for you.
My Approach to Teaching
- Certified Kasuti Expertise: I am a GI-certified user for Kasuti of Karnataka. When you learn this with me, you are learning the authentic, traditional style directly from a source that honors its heritage.
- Over 25 Styles: Beyond Kasuti, I teach a wide variety of global and Indian embroidery forms, including Mirror work (Shisha), Kantha, and Crazy Patchwork.
- Practical Learning: We provide all materials and step-by-step guidance. You do not need to bring experience—just curiosity.
