My Art Journal: Sketches, Studies, and Practice
Welcome to my creative diary! This is where I experiment with new techniques, paint late-night moon studies, and keep my sketchbook messy and real. Everything you see here is a look into my process.
I love painting the moon. This is a detailed gouache painting on black paper, where I focused on capturing the textures and craters. This piece was part of an art contest and pushed me to explore new techniques.
Another moon painting, this time on white paper. I'm always moonstruck, and I really enjoy the process of layering gouache to create a realistic and luminous effect.
I also offer custom-painted polaroids. This is a collection of various landscape and sunset scenes I've painted in a polaroid format. They make for beautiful, tiny pieces of art to decorate your space.
A closer look at some of my customized polaroid paintings. I use acrylics to create these vibrant sunset scenes, from palm tree-lined roads to colorful Ferris wheels. Each one is a little painted memory.
This gouache landscape painting captures a beautiful sunset over a winding country road. I love playing with the warm colors of the sky against the cool greens of the fields.
I'm obsessed with painting sunset skies, and this piece featuring the Taj Mahal is a perfect example. The warm orange and pink glow of the sky creates a stunning silhouette of the iconic monument.
This sketchbook spread features an anatomical heart painted with acrylics next to a page of lipstick prints. It's a bit of a different style for me, blending art with a touch of science and romance.
I painted this magical mushroom forest scene in my sketchbook. Using gouache on black paper really makes the colors of the glowing mushrooms and forest light stand out. It feels like a little secret paradise.
For this sketchbook page, I wanted to practice painting lip stains instead of using actual lipstick. I used watercolors on tea-stained paper to create this vintage-inspired page of kisses.
A little winter-themed painting in my sketchbook to remember December. I painted a couple making a heart with their hands in the snow, a simple and sweet scene to capture the cozy winter feeling.
About My Art Journal: Paintings & Sketches
These pieces aren't just for show. They are my practice grounds where I test new gouache layering and watercolor blending techniques to keep my work sharp. Behind the Scenes
This gallery is my raw, unfiltered art journal. Unlike my finished phone cases or greeting cards, these are the studies, the experiments, and the random creative urges that happen at 2 am with a cup of chai.
I believe in transparency in art. When you look at my gouache moon studies on black paper or my watercolor lip-stain exercises, you are seeing the actual brushwork and color theory I use for all my commissions.
My Materials & Process
I am a bit of a stickie about supplies. I work primarily with:
- Gouache: For those opaque, vibrant finishes like my sunset skies and glowing mushrooms.
- Watercolor: Perfect for my soft, romantic, and coquette-inspired floral sketches.
- Paper: I stick to 250-300 GSM cold-pressed paper. It handles multiple layers without buckling, which is why you see such depth in my landscape studies.
Turning Practice into Your Personal Art
Many clients ask if they can get one of these 'practice' pieces as a final gift. The answer is yes! If you see a style here—like the way I paint Taj Mahal silhouettes or those tiny tulips—we can adapt that exact technique for a custom portrait, a bookmark, or a larger illustration for your wall.
Everything I paint is handmade, so while you might see a tiny brushstroke or a slight variation in color, that is what makes it yours and not mass-produced. Just send me a message with a screenshot of the sketch you like, and we can start chatting about your own custom project.
