Animal Kingdom Portraits

From wild encounters to home comforts, these portraits capture the unique spirit of every animal I have met. It is all about connection, whether behind a lens or a screen. 🐾

A gentle moment with Gauri, a rescued baby elephant in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. Her innocence and trust were incredibly moving.

The hilariously relatable expression of a young Rhesus Macaque in Dudhwa, looking like it forgot what its mom sent it to the store for.

"Joey doesn't share food!" This Rhesus Macaque in Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary perfectly captures the feeling of guarding the last french fry.

A close-up portrait of a Rhesus Macaque from my trip to Dudhwa National Park. Their expressions are so vivid and full of character.

A throwback to my rabbit Sniffkin making a new friend at an animal adoption office. A sweet reminder that friendship can cross species lines.

Is it a plant or is it a cat? This little orange kitten found the sunniest, warmest spot for a nap right in a planter.

A beautiful Indian cow resting peacefully in a field of grass. There is a quiet dignity and calm about them that I love to capture.

About this collection

Getting a great animal portrait is not about chasing them down for the perfect frame; it is about patience and understanding their boundaries. I do not use flash or artificial lures because the best photos happen when an animal trusts you enough to just be themselves.

Whether I am tracking a rhesus macaque in the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve or capturing a quiet moment with a rescue kitten, the goal remains the same: respect. Many photographers will tell you that the gear matters, and yes, my Nikon captures every detail, but the real difference is the energy you bring to the field.

I do not believe in baiting animals for a shot. In the wild, this means waiting for hours in silence, letting the forest accept my presence before I even think about touching the shutter. It is why you will see such candid expressions in my gallery; those are not posed, they are genuine reactions. For pet portraits, the approach is similar. I work in your home environment because that is where they feel safest. I am not there to direct a scene but to document their world.

When you look at these portraits, you are seeing more than just animals. You are seeing the result of a philosophy that prioritizes animal welfare above every frame. If you want photos that feel honest, raw, and full of character, we start by understanding who your animal is first. We can discuss your pet’s quirks or your favorite wildlife spots, and we will figure out how to capture them in a way that respects their comfort and their story.

I’m Saloni. I have spent years following tigers and hanging out with city crows, and I have learned that every animal has a distinct personality waiting to be heard. I am just here to bridge that gap with my camera.
