Timeless Monochrome Newborn and Family Portraits
Stripping away color lets us focus on what really matters: the tiny expressions, the soft textures, and the raw emotion of your family’s connection. These black and white portraits are my favorite way to preserve your most precious moments.
This is the kind of moment I live to capture. The pure, quiet love of a father holding his newborn for the first time, preserved forever in a timeless black and white portrait.
A newborn's hand instinctively curling around a parent's finger is a powerful symbol of trust and connection, made even more impactful in classic black and white.

A classic black and white shot of my own son, sleeping peacefully while swaddled. The simplicity of the composition puts all the focus on his serene expression.

About Timeless Monochrome
Monochrome isn't just about removing color; it's about lighting and texture. In my Lower Parel studio, I specifically set up my lighting to emphasize the natural contours of your baby’s face and the softness of their skin. If you want a classic, clean look, we’ll stick to minimal bean bag poses, but if you want that raw family connection, we’ll move around to capture those genuine laughs and snuggles.
Why Black and White?
Color is beautiful, but it can sometimes be distracting. When we remove it, the image shifts from being about the clothes or the props to being about the feeling. For a newborn, this means emphasizing that perfect, soft skin texture and those quiet, sleepy expressions. For a family, it highlights the way you hold each other.
My Approach in the Studio
My studio sessions are designed to be calm and baby-led. Whether you are coming in for a solo newborn shoot or a 'Mom and Me' mini session, we keep things simple. I rely on natural light and soft shadows to create depth. You don’t need to worry about coordinating colors or complex outfits. In fact, for monochrome portraits, simple solids work best because they ensure all the focus stays on your faces and your connection.
What to Expect
We won't be rushing. If your little one needs a feed or a cuddle, we stop and take that time. The goal is to capture the 'real' you. I want to catch the look in your eyes when you hold your baby, or the way they curl their tiny fingers around yours. These are the details that change so fast, and black and white photography allows us to freeze them in a way that feels timeless, no matter how many years go by.
