A few months ago, we started a small group for children with Down's syndrome and autism. Today, it has grown into a thriving program that parents tell us is a form of therapy for their kids. We are always ready to welcome more students.
About Basketball for Everyone: Our Special Needs Program
We don’t just run drills; we use basketball as a form of therapy. Our sessions are built around the same motor-skill curriculum we designed for the movie Sitaare Zameen Par, focusing on rhythm, coordination, and social interaction in small, high-attention groups. Parents often tell us that the court becomes the one place where their child feels completely free to just play.
Our Philosophy: Sabka Apna Apna Normal
We operate on the belief that everyone has their own normal. In our special needs basketball batches, we don't force children to fit into a standardized coaching mold. Instead, we adapt the game to fit their unique strengths and pace. Whether it is working on balance with children with Down syndrome or focus with children on the autism spectrum, we prioritize the joy of movement over rigid performance metrics.
Why Basketball for Neurodiverse Children?
Basketball is highly effective for sensory and motor skill development.
- Coordination: Dribbling and passing exercises improve hand-eye coordination.
- Sensory Processing: The tactile feedback of the ball and the structured nature of the court provide a grounding environment.
- Social Growth: We use group activities like "Human Chain" to teach teamwork and communication in a low-pressure setting.
The Coaching Experience
Our coaching team, including Coach Sylvan, Coach Rohit, and Coach Vinit, brings direct experience from working with neurodiverse casts in major film productions. This isn't just theory; it is practical experience in keeping kids engaged, motivated, and safe. We keep our batch sizes small to ensure every child gets the personalized attention they need to grow. We focus on celebrating every small win—a completed pass, a dribble, or just a smile on the court. If you are looking for a space where your child can be themselves and learn a skill, we are ready to welcome them.
