Wild & Free: Creeper Walls
Bring your boundary walls and fences to life with lush, natural greenery. We design and install living creeper trellis systems that grow with your home.
This is a perfect example of a structured creeper wall. I install a support system that guides the vines to grow into a dense, living wall, turning a simple architectural feature into a green statement piece.
I created this natural breathing green wall using ficus repens, a beautiful climbing fig. It's paired with a row of snake plants at the base for a layered, textured look that brings fresh air and a calming vibe to this outdoor space.
This is a Vernonia Creeper, a fast-growing vine that creates an incredibly lush and full hedge. It's a great choice for covering boundary walls or fences, providing privacy and a beautiful, cascading green look.
About Wild & Free: Creeper Walls
When we install a creeper wall, we don't just put plants in the ground and hope for the best. The most critical part is the structural trellis we anchor to your wall, which is usually a galvanized iron wire mesh or a welded steel grid. This keeps the weight off your actual wall and gives the vines a dedicated surface to climb, preventing long-term structural damage while ensuring your green wall grows dense and healthy.
Growing Your Green Privacy Screen
There is something special about watching a wall turn into a living hedge. Unlike modular vertical gardens which need precise irrigation, a natural creeper wall is all about patience and the right support. In Bangalore, we often recommend fast-growing varieties like Vernonia or Bougainvillea, which love our climate and fill out remarkably quickly.
Our Process
- Wall Assessment: We first check the surface strength and sunlight exposure. Not all vines thrive in the shade, and some need hours of direct sun to bloom.
- Trellis Installation: We fabricate a galvanized iron or mild steel frame. This is the backbone of your wall. It ensures the vines spread evenly across the surface rather than bunching up in one corner.
- Planter & Soil Setup: We use fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) troughs at the base. These are weather-resistant and hold the heavy, organic-rich soil mix—compost, manure, and cocopeat—that these vigorous climbers need to thrive.
- Training: Once the saplings are in, we manually tie and weave the initial stems onto the mesh. This 'training' phase is vital in the first few weeks to set the growth pattern.
Maintenance Tips
Even 'wild' walls need a little love. Because these are fast-growing plants, you will need to prune them back every few months to keep them within the trellis boundaries. We provide a handover guide that covers when to trim and how to watch for new growth, so you can enjoy a lush, privacy-providing screen that evolves with the seasons. Whether you are covering an old compound wall or looking to soften a metal fence, a creeper wall is one of the most cost-effective ways to bring nature into your daily view.
