My Sadhana: The Spiritual Foundation of My Art
My art is not merely a profession; it is an extension of my daily spiritual discipline. These glimpses into my rituals and prayers are where the 'bhav' for my paintings is truly born.
Performing 'tarpan' in the holy Ganga. This ritual of offering water to our ancestors is a powerful reminder of our roots and the importance of gratitude in Sanatana Dharma.
A look at the daily 'bhog' or food offering I make to Thakur Ji. For me, preparing this meal is not a chore but a loving service, where every ingredient is an offering of devotion.
Chanting the powerful Krishna mantra for removing obstacles, as shared by Premanand Maharaj Ji. The vibrations of these sacred sounds bring immense peace and positive energy.
A compilation of the four Shravan Somvar pujas I performed. Each Monday was a journey of devotion, culminating in a deep sense of connection with Lord Shiva.
The final Shravan Somvar aarti in Haridwar, surrounded by young scholars from the ashram. In moments of shared devotion, one is never alone; the entire universe joins in.
The final Rudrabhishek of Shravan month, performed in Haridwar. This journey of four Mondays was one of complete surrender at the feet of Lord Shiva. Om Namah Shivaya.
Performing Rudrabhishek on the third Monday of Shravan in the holy city of Haridwar. Each offering is a prayer for inner peace and surrender to Mahadev.
A deeply moving moment as a revered saint, who is also my father's childhood friend, visited my home. His presence and blessings filled my home and art studio with a divine aura.
The second Shravan Somvar Rudrabhishek. From the journey to the holy river to the final deep aarti, every moment is a tribute to Mahadev. Har Har Mahadev.
On the first Monday of Shravan, I had the privilege of performing Rudrabhishek in Haridwar. Using water from the Ganga and a mala of 108 belpatra leaves, it was a moment of pure surrender.
About My Sadhana: A Glimpse into My Spiritual Life
When you commission a painting, you are receiving more than just pigment on canvas. The focus you see in my rituals—my daily chanting, the Rudrabhishek in Haridwar, and the careful preparation of bhog—is exactly the same focus I bring to your artwork. I work with deliberate pace because I believe the energy I cultivate during my morning sadhana must flow into the piece that will eventually grace your home.
For me, the act of painting is inseparable from my spiritual practice. Many ask why I do not accept rushed commissions or short-timeline projects. The answer lies in the nature of 'bhav'. Just as a prayer cannot be performed without presence of mind, a painting of a deity cannot be created without a calm, prepared inner state.
My studio is an extension of my home temple. Before the brush touches the canvas, the mind must be settled. Whether I am working on a 4x6 ft narrative canvas of the Radha-Krishna Leela or a smaller relief mural, the process remains the same. I utilize the same discipline developed during my morning sadhana to ensure that every detail—from the intricate jewelry on a deity to the texture of a temple backdrop—is painted with complete awareness.
I often share snippets of my life, from performing Rudrabhishek to daily mantra chanting, not to showcase a lifestyle, but to invite you into the environment where your art comes to life. When I paint a portrait of a guru or a divine figure, I am essentially attempting to translate that silence and peace I find in my rituals into a visual form. If you are seeking a piece that brings a meditative, positive aura into your living space, I invite you to share your vision so we can create something that holds real meaning for your family.

I am Dr. Raajan Maluuja, and for me, a paintbrush is simply another tool for worship. My life is divided between the quiet of my home mandir and the studio, where I try to capture the divine presence I feel in my daily sadhana.
