About Netravathi Peak Adventures
The Netravathi ridge walk is essentially walking through the clouds, but be ready for the steep, slippery grassy terrain that defines this trail. We handle all the forest permits and provide local guides, but make sure you bring sturdy trekking shoes with good grip—the mud and rain are part of the deal here. It is a demanding climb, yet the view from the summit ridge makes the effort worth it.
Netravathi Peak, located in the Kudremukha National Park region, is widely considered one of the most scenic trails in the Western Ghats. The route takes you through dense shola forests before opening up into expansive, rolling grasslands. Unlike other summit treks, the final stretch is a narrow ridge walk that gives you expansive views of the valley.
Logistics matter on this route. Since we depart from Bangalore on Friday nights, we aim to reach our homestay in the Kalasa or Samse area early Saturday morning. You will be staying in shared dormitories with basic, comfortable facilities. Expect wood-fired hot water and simple, hearty Malnad-style meals to keep you fueled.
Why this trek?
- The Ridge Walk: The narrow trail gives you a unique perspective of the surrounding peaks that you simply cannot get anywhere else.
- Monsoon Magic: If you catch this trek during the rains, the mist creates an atmosphere that feels like another world.
- Community Vibes: Our groups are designed for strangers to turn into friends. You will find yourself sharing stories over tea after a long hike.
Practical stuff: You need a decent level of fitness. The climb can be steep, and with rain, it gets muddy. We always prioritize safety with certified leads and mandatory local guides, but the unpredictability of the weather is part of the charm. If you love a bit of good chaos and want to escape the city, this is your spot.
