Vaginismus: Healing Painful Sex
If penetration feels like a struggle, know that your pain is real and it is treatable. We are here to help you navigate this without judgment.
For six years, she struggled with what she later learned was vaginismus, being told it was "all in her head." This is her true story of finding a diagnosis, a supportive community in our 8-week program, and finally healing.
She's a biology teacher who teaches reproduction but didn't know about vaginismus herself. After two years of painful attempts at penetration, she and her husband joined our holistic program. This is her story of healing and conceiving her daughter.
"I struggled for 3 years. Doctors dismissed me... till I found Proactive For Her." This is a real story from Gowthami, one of over 630 women who found hope and healing through our guided vaginismus program.
We've helped over 500 women heal from vaginismus with our award-winning program. This milestone represents 500 stories of reclaiming intimacy, confidence, and joy.
Celebrating 600 women healed! Our award-winning Vaginismus Healing Program is built on the belief that no woman should suffer in silence. Your strength inspires us every day.
What is vaginismus? Our lead gynaecologist, Dr. Taru Jindal, who healed from vaginismus herself, explains the condition. It's an involuntary muscle contraction that your body uses as a protective response, and it is 100% treatable.
Dr. Taru Jindal, a gynaecologist and founder of our Vaginismus Healing Program, explains the condition in simple terms. She discusses its impact on relationships and why getting help early is so important for your physical and emotional well-being.
Vaginismus isn't just about physical pain; it's an emotional journey. Our mental health therapists work with you to address feelings of inadequacy and the fears around intimacy that often accompany this condition.
We're proud to partner with sexuality educator Leeza Mangaldas to talk about our trauma-informed vaginismus healing program. It's designed by a survivor for survivors, with over 450 women healed.
Vaginismus 101: A quick guide to understanding the basics. We cover the types (primary and secondary), key causes like anxiety or past trauma, and the most important fact: it's treatable.
About Vaginismus: Healing Painful Sex
Our 8-week healing program isn't just about the physical aspect. We combine medical oversight from trauma-informed gynaecologists, pelvic floor physiotherapy, and mental health coaching to break the cycle of fear and muscle spasm. You will work with a dedicated team that understands that your pain isn't all in your head—it's a protective muscle response that can be unlearned with the right support.
Think of your pelvic floor muscles like the muscles in your eye, which shut tight if they sense a threat. When you have vaginismus, your body perceives penetration as a threat and involuntarily contracts. It is not a choice, and it is certainly not something you are doing to yourself on purpose.
We break down the healing process into four key areas:
- Medical Guidance: A clear diagnosis from a trauma-informed gynaecologist who understands that you do not need to be shamed for your sexual history.
- Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy: Gentle, guided exercises to help your muscles learn to relax and expand.
- Mental Health Coaching: A safe space to unpack the anxiety, self-doubt, or past trauma that might be contributing to the spasm.
- Community Support: You will have access to a support group of women who have walked this exact path. Sharing your story with people who actually get it is often the most powerful part of the healing journey.
We move away from 'just relax' advice, which never works, and instead use science-backed dilator training and psychological support. Whether you have primary or secondary vaginismus, there is a way through this. We are here to help you reclaim your intimacy on your own timeline.
Proactive For Her
We are a team of women-first doctors and therapists who actually get it. Our founder, Dr. Taru, healed from vaginismus herself, so we built the program we wish we had back then—safe, science-backed, and completely judgment-free.
