Bharatanatyam Performances and Stage Experiences
From intimate studio concerts to grand annual showcases, we create platforms for every student to share the joy of dance.
Our Annual Day celebration featured a 45-minute presentation on India called 'Bharatham'. It was a new production for this year and a visual treat for the entire audience.
An amazing performance by the ladies at our annual showcase, with our student Ridhima taking center stage. Their professionalism and synchronization were outstanding.
Our tiniest dancers enchanted the audience at the Annual Day, dancing to 'Chinna Chinna Padam'. Their synchronized steps and cute expressions were a highlight of the show.
We hold intimate studio concerts to give junior students a chance to watch senior performances up close. Here, Asmitha performs an item from her Arangetram from six years ago.
Sahiti, my student for over 11 years, recently performed 'Maadu Meikkum Kanne' in a chamber concert at our studio. These smaller settings create a wonderful connection with the audience.
An invitation for our academy's performance at the HAL Ayyappa Temple for Vijayadashami. We encourage students to perform in various settings, including traditional temple venues.
The Navaratri series is a special time at the academy. Here, our senior students perform a piece together, celebrating the divine feminine energy through dance.
A glimpse of our student Deshna performing 'Prabho Ganapathy' for Ganesha Chaturthi. We often create special pieces to celebrate important festivals throughout the year.
I am always happy to see our students participate and win awards in public dance competitions. It is a great platform for them to showcase their talent to a wider audience.
Panjami and Diya from our Intermediate batch recently performed for a HAL organization event. We encourage students to take up opportunities for public performances.
About Academy Performances & Events
Stepping onto the stage changes everything. Whether it is a short piece at an open mic or a full-length production, we treat every performance as a vital part of the learning journey. My students learn how to manage stage nerves, coordinate with fellow dancers, and connect with an audience, building the confidence that stays with them long after the curtain falls.
Beyond the Studio Walls
At Samarpana Dance Academy, I believe that stage time should not be reserved only for the Arangetram. We treat every performance—whether it is a local temple event in Whitefield, an open mic session at Jagriti, or our grand annual academy showcase—as a crucial chapter in a student's training.
Our Performance Philosophy
- Annual Academy Showcase: This is where we bring everyone together. From our tiniest dancers performing their first group items to senior students presenting complex margams, the focus is on coordination and expression. We handle the production details, including costume rentals, professional stage makeup, and lighting, so students can focus entirely on their art.
- Intimate Studio Concerts: Sometimes, a smaller setting is more powerful. These concerts give our junior students a chance to watch seniors perform up close, fostering a sense of community and providing a safe space to try out new items before taking them to public venues.
- Public and Temple Performances: We actively encourage students to perform during festivals like Navaratri or at local venues like the HAL Ayyappa Temple. Dancing in these environments teaches students to adapt to different spaces and atmospheres, which is essential for any classical dancer.
Why It Matters
Performance is the final step in translating hours of practice into expression. It teaches discipline and sincerity. Whether they are dancing for five people or five hundred, I teach my students to approach the stage with the same level of focus and devotion. These experiences help students grow into confident dancers who understand that the art form lives through the connection they build with the audience.
Preetha Arun
I believe dance is not just about movements, but about sharing a part of yourself with the audience. I guide each student to find their own comfort on stage, making sure the experience is grounded in joy and sincerity rather than just pressure.
