About Natural Building Workshops
Why We Do This
Building with mud, lime, and other natural materials is how we connect to the land, and honestly, it's not just about the houses. It’s about learning, experimenting, and letting the space grow with you. We invite you to be part of this - whether you’re an architect, student, or just curious about how a mud house works.
Workshop Details
You’ll be right in the thick of it, mixing mud, slapping on lime, and understanding what makes a building breathe. Our multi-day sessions aren’t just lectures - you’ll get your hands messy with everything from lime plaster techniques like Araish and Thappi, to the Japanese dorodango craft. ‘Kai Kale’ (handmade art) is our style, with plenty of practical action and some theory. We work with master artisans, so you’ll see real skills passed down over generations.
Open House Tours
Want to see mud house construction up close? We regularly open up our project sites for guided tours, where you can touch walls made from adobe, laterite, and cob, see domes and vaults, and step on classic red oxide floors. We’ll talk about what works, what doesn’t, and why sustainable architecture workshop methods matter.
The Vibe
You’ll join a bunch of folks from all walks of life, learning, failing, laughing, and figuring out the natural wall finishes that make each project unique. Here, it’s all about sharing, experimenting, and finding the saralatheya sobagu (beauty of simplicity) together.

My Story
We’re Praangana - means courtyard in Kannada. For us, home is that open sky feeling, rain on your face, sun on your toes. We get excited by old lime kilns, local materials, and sharing it all. Our open houses, like the Basavanagudi Thotti Mane, let folks touch mud walls, feel cool lime plaster. Owner-builder? Yeah, our clients build with us, learn with us. It’s messy, fun, and real. Together, we grow. Simple joys, big heart.
My Work
Sustainable & Vernacular Architecture - We design and build homes with mud, laterite stone, lime, and wood. We also do owner-builder architecture workshops.
Healthy, Breathable Materials - Love working with traditional lime plaster walls, oxide flooring, and local wood. Homes with low carbon footprint.
Courtyard House Design - We make totti mane - cozy verandahs, arches, wooden trusses. Indoors meet outdoors, air and light everywhere.
Tradition Meets Innovation - Mixing old and new. You’ll see a wooden lock next to a Mexican brick dome. We like experimenting.
