Reading Your Dog: Behavior and Communication Coaching
Most behavioral issues are just a language barrier between you and your pet. I’ll show you how to decode your dog’s signals, separate their true nature from common breed stereotypes, and build the trust needed to fix things for good.
Recall is one of the toughest, most important commands you can teach. It can literally save your dog's life. Here, you can see puppies learning recall by following the lead of the oldest dog in the pack. Training should always be positive and fun, especially for pups.
People often see a Rottweiler and think "aggressive." Let me show you what my "aggressive" Rottweiler does when he wants a bum scratch. Understanding a dog's true nature, beyond breed stereotypes, is the first step to building a trusting relationship.
Is this a vicious attack or just a playful tickle? Rottweilers are often vocal when they play, and that growl is just communication, not aggression. It's crucial to read a dog's body language as a whole, considering the context and environment.
A picture is worth a thousand words. With clear boundaries, consistency, and trust, my boy Simba, who had a bite history, has turned into a gentle nanny for foster pups. No dog is ever broken; it just takes time and patience to see miracles like this.
This is me with Simba during a nail trimming session, no muzzle needed. This is the result of building trust, which is the first step in any training. It took time, but seeing him calm and comfortable is worth every bit of effort.
About this collection
Most people misinterpret a dog's vocalization as aggression when it's often just communication. Whether it’s a Rottweiler’s 'talking' or a pup refusing to recall, I help you stop guessing and start understanding. We don't use punishment-based training here; we work on building a routine and trust, because when you can actually read your dog, you stop the drama before it starts.
It's Not Aggression, It's Communication
People often see a growl and instantly label it as aggression. But context is everything. My coaching is about frame-by-frame decoding—looking at your dog's body language as a whole, not just one part. We look at the environment, the trigger, and the history.
Take my Rottweiler, Simba. People see a large dog, a show of teeth, and a rumble, and they get scared. I see a dog who is just 'talking' while asking for a bum scratch. If you misread that, you create an anxious environment. If you understand it, you build a connection.
Why Coaching, Not Just 'Training'?
I don't train your dog for you. I coach you. You are the one living with your dog every day. If you don't understand the 'why' behind the behavior, no amount of obedience tricks will help in the long run.
We focus on:
- Body Language Decoding: Learning what signals are actual warnings and what are just 'shenanigans.'
- Routine Design: Creating predictability in your home. A dog who knows what happens next is a dog who feels safe.
- Boundary Setting: Limitations and boundaries aren't confinement; they are the things that allow a dog to relax.
The Consistency Factor
Training isn't hard work. It is consistency. It is about understanding, communicating, and staying the course. When you have a clear plan, anxiety drops—for both you and your fur baby.
Whether you are dealing with a rescue with a 'bite history' or just want to understand why your pup keeps jumping on guests, we start with trust. No dog is ever broken. It just takes time and the right approach to see the miracle in them.
