Coordinated Family Attire
I design custom, coordinated looks for your whole family that celebrate your unique bond, whether it is matching shades for a wedding or distinct styles tied together by a shared color palette.
I love seeing a family's style come together. For this wonderful family, we designed coordinated outfits for a special occasion. The father and son are in matching mint green cotton kurtas with custom button details, while the mother complements them perfectly in a soft peach saree with a simple silver border.
This was such a fun project, creating a set of coordinated red outfits for a family event. We designed three distinct styles to match each person's personality: a traditional lehenga with a gold border, a modern Indo-Western set with a sweetheart neckline crop top and a high-slit skirt, and an adorable embroidered jumpsuit for the youngest.
About Coordinated Family Attire
Coordination does not have to mean wearing the exact same thing. I focus on creating a visual harmony, such as dyeing a groom's kurta fabric to match the bride's saree or using softer, kid-friendly fabrics while keeping the embroidery patterns consistent. We will sit down and build a color palette that lets everyone look like a team without losing their individual style.
My Approach to Family Coordination
When I work with families, my goal is to ensure you look connected without appearing like you are wearing uniforms. We often start by picking a primary color palette and then deciding on the level of coordination you are comfortable with.
For some, this means identical colors across the board. For others, it involves using different fabrics like raw silk for adults and organic cotton for children, all dyed to match the same color family.
The Process
- The Consultation: We talk about the event, the venue, and your personal style. I want to know who is in your family and what makes each person comfortable.
- Fabric & Palette Selection: We choose high-quality materials such as Banarasi georgette, raw silk, or velvet. I handle the dyeing process to ensure the colors across different outfits are consistent.
- Tailoring & Trials: Since this is made-to-measure, we schedule separate fitting sessions. This ensures the adult outfits are structured correctly and the kid's outfits have the necessary features like elasticated waistbands and soft linings for comfort.
Why Custom Matters for Groups
Buying coordinated sets off the rack often means compromising on fit or style for at least one person. By creating these outfits from scratch, I can ensure the father's kurta mirrors the embroidery on the mother's lehenga, or that the daughter's gown is a mini-replica of the mother's ensemble, all while prioritizing the comfort of the children. Whether it is a sangeet, a festival, or a milestone photoshoot, we can create a look that is yours alone.
