About Color for Curls
Curly hair requires a different approach than straight hair because every curl has its own direction and movement. When I color, I don't pull or straighten your hair to paint it. Instead, I carefully paint highlights while your hair is in its natural, curly state to ensure the color sits perfectly on the curves, adding dimension exactly where it catches the light.

I treat curly hair as a three-dimensional canvas. Many salons treat curls like straight hair, pulling them tight to apply color. That creates a patchy look once your hair dries and coils back up. My process is different. I paint your curls in their natural state, which allows me to place highlights precisely where they will pop, enhancing your texture rather than hiding it.
My Color Techniques for Curls
- Dimensional Balayage: This is my go-to for curly hair. It blends seamlessly, so as your hair grows, you don't get that harsh root line. It keeps the focus on the curl pattern and volume.
- No-Bleach Transformations: If you are worried about damage, we can opt for a color melt using permanent dyes. This is perfect for warm tones like chocolate, mocha, or rich copper. We can lighten your hair up to 3-4 shades without using powder bleach, keeping the integrity of your curls intact.
- Face-Framing Highlights: A little bit of lightness around your face can make your eyes and features stand out, especially with curls that already add so much movement.
Hair Health Comes First
I am very careful with bond-protecting additives. Even when we do need to use bleach for those lighter ash or blonde looks, I mix in bond-builders to keep the hair strong. A great color job means nothing if your curls lose their bounce. Whether you want a subtle sun-kissed look or a bold change, we will discuss the best path during our consultation to ensure your hair stays glossy and healthy.
