Authentic Okinawan Shorin-ryu Karate Lineage
Explore the heritage behind our teaching, directly from the source in Okinawa, Japan, to our dojo in Bangalore.
At the Honbu Dojo in Okinawa, I stand before Hanshi Minoru Nakazato as he reads the official declaration for my Kyoshi Nanadan examination. This formal process is a respected tradition in Okinawan karate.
The moment of receiving the 7th Dan certificate from my teacher. This represents a commitment to a lifetime of learning and upholding the standards of our art form.
Pictured with Hanshi Minoru Nakazato after successfully passing the examination. The Kyoshi title is a high honor, and I am humbled to be one of the few teachers in India to receive it directly from Okinawa.

This is the official emblem of Shorin-ryu Shorinkan, the school of Okinawan Karate to which I belong. It symbolizes the tradition, authenticity, and community that is the foundation of my teaching.
About My Okinawan Karate Lineage
Achieving the rank of Kyoshi Nanadan (7th Dan) from the Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Honbu Dojo is a formal confirmation of my commitment to preserving the original techniques of our lineage. When you train here, you are not learning a diluted version of martial arts; you are receiving the exact movements, philosophy, and discipline passed down directly from Hanshi Minoru Nakazato.
The Shorin-ryu Shorinkan tradition is recognized globally for its focus on speed, precision, and body mechanics that prioritize efficiency over brute force. Because I travel to the Honbu Dojo in Okinawa for regular testing and refinement under the guidance of Hanshi Minoru Nakazato, the curriculum at our Bangalore dojo remains tied directly to the source.
When you join our classes, you follow a structured path designed for long-term growth:
- Kihon (Basics): Building the foundational movements that support every technique.
- Kata (Forms): Learning the repository of historical fighting techniques developed over generations.
- Kobudo (Weapons): Developing body coordination and weapon control through traditional tools.
- Kumite (Sparring): Applying theoretical knowledge in a controlled, respectful environment.
Authenticity matters because it ensures that what you learn is effective for self-defense and personal development. Whether you are aiming for a Black Belt or seeking the confidence that comes with mastering your own body, our environment is built on the same values of respect and discipline that I experienced in Okinawa. We do not just teach moves; we teach the mindset of persistence, or as we say, Ganbatte.
