Close-Up Photography and Creative Editing Workshops
Stop shooting on auto mode. Master the details in your macro shots and learn the editing workflow that makes your images pop.
Getting close to small subjects like this praying mantis is what macro photography is all about. After capturing the sharp details, I used Photoshop to desaturate the background, making the vibrant green of the insect the main focus. This is a simple yet effective editing trick I teach.
Photography can find beauty in the smallest things, like this single sprout. This image uses the 'less is more' idea. By focusing on the tiny plant and using selective color to highlight its green against the dark soil, the photo tells a story of new life. We'll cover these minimalist and symbolic approaches in my sessions.
About Close-Up & Creative Editing
Shooting a macro subject like an insect or a sprout is only half the fun. When I sit down with students to edit, we focus on subtle moves like desaturating backgrounds to make the subject pop. It is not about over-processing, but about pulling out the raw details your camera already captured.
Mastering the macro lens takes patience, but the editing is where you define your visual signature. In my workshops, we go beyond standard filters. We use Lightroom and Photoshop to really control light, exposure, and color. I show you how to use radial masks and selective color to guide the viewer exactly where you want them to look.
The best part about these sessions is that they are hands-on. We spend our time working on your actual files. If you struggle with highlights or recovering shadows from your RAW files, we fix that together. You will learn to cull your photos, manage your RAW workflow, and create presets that save you hours of work later.
Whether you shoot with a Nikon, Canon, or Sony, the principles remain the same. We focus on getting the sharpest shot in-camera so that editing becomes about enhancing reality rather than fixing mistakes. If you are ready to stop guessing and start creating, let's connect and set up a session.
