About Student Art Exhibitions
Walking into a professional gallery is not just about hanging art on a wall. When my students stand by their canvases to explain the Madhubani motifs or Lippan techniques they have used to visitors, the shift in their confidence is visible. These exhibitions are the bridge between our studio classes and the real world, showing them that their creativity has a voice.
At Hema's Hues Academy, I believe art should not just stay in a sketchbook. My approach to these exhibitions is to create a professional environment—like our showcase at Cymroza Art Gallery—where students can see their work valued by others.
Why we do this:
- Voice and Articulation: It forces students to articulate their creative process. When a parent or visitor asks about a color choice or texture, the student has to think back to the specific techniques we practiced in class.
- Skill Application: Whether it is Warli, Tanjore, or contemporary canvas painting, seeing their work in a gallery context helps students understand composition and presentation.
- The 'Before' and 'After': These exhibitions feature work from our regular weekend classes and holiday camps. Parents get to see the progression from a hesitant first stroke to a finished, display-ready masterpiece.
We do not just teach techniques like sketching or clay modelling; we teach students to own their creations. It is the best way to move from 'I made this' to 'I am an artist'. If you want your child to experience this journey from our studio to a gallery wall, get in touch to discuss our upcoming batches.
