Guided Portrait Sessions in Delhi
Learn how to shoot and edit natural, candid portraits around Delhi with me. No stiff posing, just real vibes and practical techniques.
A full-length portrait at Qutub Minar, using the stone archway as a natural frame. We arrived early to get soft morning light and avoid crowds, which is a key part of planning a successful outdoor portrait shoot.
In this shot, we used the hard sunlight to create dramatic shadows and highlights on the subject. I teach how to work with different lighting conditions, including harsh midday sun, to create compelling and artistic portraits.
A close up portrait capturing a natural, joyful expression. A big part of our sessions is making the subject feel comfortable, which is the secret to capturing genuine emotions instead of stiff, posed smiles.
About Guided Portrait Sessions
When we head out for a session—like these shots at Qutub Minar—I focus on timing and light. We will meet early to avoid the crowds, and I will show you exactly how I use masking in Lightroom to make the subject pop without that fake, plastic look. It is all about keeping things real, even in the edit.
Photography is about the moment, not just the gear. Whether we are shooting at Qutub Minar, Lodi Art District, or a quiet market, my goal is to strip away the technical stress. During our session, we will not just stand around. We will walk through the exposure triangle in manual mode, find natural framing, and figure out how to work with the light we have, even if it is harsh midday sun.
When it comes to editing, I keep it straightforward. You will not find me pushing sliders to extremes. We will dive into Adobe Lightroom together, covering:
- Masking techniques to separate your subject from the background.
- Mastering the S curve to add contrast without crushing blacks.
- Finding skin tone presets that look natural, not artificial.
I use a Sony A6100 with a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 prime lens for these portraits, but the principles apply to whatever gear you are carrying. If you are tired of stiff posing or over-edited photos, this is for you. We will keep it chill and just focus on making pictures that actually feel like the moment they were taken.
