Want to capture raw, candid moments? Let's wander through Delhi's markets and heritage sites to find the best light, practice composition, and learn the art of shooting without the stress.

A typical moment during one of our photo walks near India Gate. We'll stop, review the photos you've taken right on the camera, and discuss what's working and how you can improve your composition and settings for the next shot.

A candid street portrait taken in a bustling market. I'll show you how to use foreground elements, like this cart of lemons, to add depth and context to your photos, making the viewer feel like they are right there in the moment.

This woman looked right at my camera in a crowded Lajpat Nagar market. I teach you to embrace these moments. Instead of shying away, you can capture an intimate and direct portrait that tells a story.

A young boy's curious expression caught in the middle of a crowd. Learning to anticipate moments and be ready to shoot is a core skill in street photography that we will practice together.

A shopkeeper at a food stall in Lajpat Nagar. This photo demonstrates how to capture environmental portraits that show people in their natural setting, adding a layer of storytelling to the image.

This shot at Chatta Chowk in the Red Fort uses a tight composition to focus on the subject's interesting hat and the colorful, blurred background of the market stalls. We'll learn how to find and frame these unique details.

A profile shot of a man at the Red Fort, with the dark archway creating a stark contrast. This is a great example of using natural light and shadow to create a moody and dramatic street photograph.

A vendor showing his shawls to customers. I'll teach you how to capture interactions between people on the street, which often make for the most compelling and authentic street photography.

A quiet moment of a shopkeeper taking notes amidst his wares. This image shows the power of observation in street photography, finding peaceful scenes within a busy environment.

This image from the Chatta Chowk market uses layering, with an out of focus person in the foreground, to create a sense of depth and immersion. It's a technique we can practice to make your photos more dynamic.

About On the Streets of Delhi

The biggest trick to street photography isn't your gear—it's just being shameless. When I'm out in Lajpat Nagar or at the Red Fort, most people are actually cool with being clicked if you’re just observing. During our sessions, we won't do stiff poses. We'll focus on anticipating the moment before it happens and using natural frames like archways or market stalls to tell a story without making it look like a staged shoot.

My Approach to Street Photography

I’m not about teaching you complex theory or expensive gear setups. My sessions are basically us hanging out, wandering through places like Qutub Minar, Sunder Nursery, or the chaotic lanes of Chandni Chowk, and figuring out how to shoot when everything is moving.

What We'll Cover:

  • The Exposure Triangle: We’ll demystify manual mode. I’ll show you how to tweak ISO, shutter speed, and aperture in real-time so you stop relying on 'Auto' mode.
  • Finding Composition: It's not about the camera, it's about the eye. We’ll look for leading lines in architecture, natural framing, and how to use foreground elements to add depth to your street shots.
  • Being 'Shameless': Let's be real—the hardest part of street photography is pointing a lens at a stranger. We’ll practice how to be respectful but confident, so you can capture those candid interactions without hesitating.
  • The Post-Process: If you book the full workflow session, we’ll sit at a cafe afterwards, dump the RAW files, and dive into Lightroom Mobile. I’ll show you my actual process—masking, tone curves, and color grading—to get that clean, non-plastic look.

Why Delhi?

There is no better place to learn. The contrast of the old and the new, the light hitting the red sandstone of the Red Fort, or the crowds in Lajpat Nagar—it’s a goldmine. You don't need a pro-level camera; a basic mirrorless or even a decent smartphone works. If you're feeling a bit rusty or just tired of 'perfect' Instagram shots, come join me. Let's just create stuff we actually like.
