Why Neon Works

Neon colors are highly pigmented, but they can be tricky. If not applied correctly, they can lift or look patchy. We use our Shills Professional gels, which are formulated to maintain that glow without yellowing.

Popular Techniques we love:

• Matte Neon: We apply a velvet top coat over bright neon gels. This softens the glare and makes the color look like solid, saturated pigment.
• Neon Ombre: We blend two or three neon pigments with an ombre brush to create a gradient that looks like a sunset. Adding a layer of our 'firework gel' gives it that extra depth.
• 3D Details: Since neon is already loud, adding 3D water droplets or small resin flowers creates a cool, tactile contrast that gets people asking, 'How did you do that?'

Care Tips

Neon gels are slightly more prone to staining from dark clothing or hair dye. We always recommend using gloves while doing heavy cleaning or working with colored products to keep that neon bright as the day you left the studio.
