About Mastering Animal Prints
Animal prints are not just about drawing random lines, it is about brush control and knowing when to stop. I always tell my students that the difference between a messy blob and a sharp zebra stripe is just the right amount of pressure on your liner brush. Here at the studio, we practice these strokes until your hand feels steady, whether you are using a thick gel for the base or a high-pigment liner for the details.
Mastering the Patterns
- Leopard Prints: Focus on the 'C' or 'U' shapes. Do not worry about symmetry because nature is not symmetrical. Start with the outline and fill it in to get that depth.
- Zebra Stripes: This is all about tapering. Start your line thick and pull it thin toward the end. I like using a platinum gel accent line in between to make it pop.
- Cow Prints: These are the most forgiving designs for beginners. Use a dotting tool for organic, blob-like shapes. If you mess up, just turn it into another spot.
Why Technique Matters
Always prep the nail properly before starting. If the surface is oily, your lines will spread. Use a matte top coat sometimes to make the black pop even more, or a glossy one for that classic look. We teach this in our 15-day certification course. It is not just theory. You will actually sit here in Rani Bagh, pick up the brush, and try it on real tips until you get it right. You do not need experience to start, just the patience to practice.
