Adopting a dog is a lifelong commitment, and we are here to make sure it is the right one. Our rescue dogs have completed their rehabilitation at our ranch and are now ready to meet their new families.
Rocky, a handsome German Shepherd, is looking for a forever home. He is highly motivated by food and toys, which makes training with him a joy. We have worked to reduce his initial reactivity, and he now needs a calm, patient owner to continue building his confidence.
Charlie the Husky is ready for adoption. He came to us to work on resource guarding, and our trainers have made significant progress with him. He now enjoys playing fetch, walks calmly on a leash, and is even learning to swim. He would do best in a home with no young children.
This is Tyson, a sweet Golden Retriever waiting for his forever family. He is very food motivated and enjoys his training sessions. We are working with him to build confidence and manage his sensitivity, and he is showing great improvement every day.

We will teach you the exact markers, leash pressure techniques, and safety protocols we’ve used with your dog, ensuring they feel just as secure with you as they do at our ranch.
Our Rehabilitation Approach
Most of the dogs here landed at the shelter due to human choices, not their own. They come to us with baggage—some struggle with resource guarding like Charlie the Husky, while others like Rocky deal with reactivity. We don’t rush the adoption process because we want to set you and the dog up for success. We focus on behavioral rehabilitation using science-backed, balanced training methods, helping these dogs decompress, gain confidence, and learn how to function in a home environment.
The Adoption Process
When you adopt from Mutts & Nutts, you are getting a dog that has been assessed for their specific triggers and needs. We are transparent about their quirks. Whether it’s Tyson’s sensitivity or Rocky’s need for a quiet space, we ensure you know exactly what you are taking on.
What’s included in your adoption package:
- Health Checks: Final physical exam, vaccination updates (DHPPi/Anti-Rabies), and deworming.
- Legal Documentation: Adoption deed and indemnity agreement.
- Handler Integration: A 60 to 90-minute session with a certified behaviorist to teach you command transfers and threshold management.
- Transition Kit: A safety slip-lead and a starter pack of their current diet and treats.
