Cinematic Drone & Aerial Cinematography
Transforming the ordinary into cinematic stories from the sky. Whether it’s the sprawling Mumbai cityscape or the misty ghats, I use professional drone tech to get that breathtaking perspective.
My first drone flight over Powai, Mumbai, with the DJI Mini 4 Pro. This aerial footage reveals the sprawling cityscape and the beautiful Powai lake, offering a perspective you just can't get from the ground.
A simple phone shot of the Malvan coast versus what my drone sees. The aerial view completely transforms the scene, revealing the stunning Konkan coastline and the vastness of the sea at sunrise.
A compilation of some of my most breathtaking drone shots from across India, including the snowy mountains of Kashmir and the forts of Maharashtra. This is the kind of epic footage that elevates any film project.
An aerial postcard from Satara, Maharashtra. The drone glides over the lush green hills and winding roads, capturing the serene beauty of the region during the monsoon season.
Another drone shot from my Satara series. This frame captures a small village temple nestled in the valley, showing how aerial shots can create a powerful sense of place and story.
A top-down drone photograph of a village in Kashmir. This perspective reveals interesting patterns and textures in the rooftops, turning a simple village scene into a work of abstract art.
Another example of top-down aerial photography, this time showing the layout of a rural settlement. This kind of shot is great for establishing geography in documentaries or brand films.
About this collection
I don’t just fly a drone to get a shot, I use the DJI Mini 4 Pro to capture specific, sweeping angles that make a project look like a feature film. Whether you need an establishing shot for a commercial in Mumbai or a bird’s-eye view of an event, my focus is on smooth gimbal movement and high-bitrate clarity that holds up on any screen.
Beyond the Ground Level
Sometimes, the ground just doesn't tell the whole story. When I’m filming a brand launch or a travel piece, the most important detail is often the layout of the space, the scale of the landscape, or the sheer energy of a crowd from above. This is where aerial cinematography changes the game.
My Technical Approach
I rely on the DJI Mini 4 Pro, not just because it’s portable, but because it delivers the precise 4K footage needed for professional-grade color grading. I treat aerial shots with the same care as my close-ups. This means:
- Smooth Gimbal Motion: No jerky movements. Every pan and tilt is calibrated to feel like a slow-motion cinematic reveal.
- Strategic Establishing: I look for leading lines and natural frames in the environment, whether it's the winding roads of a Konkan ghat or the grid of a Mumbai suburb.
- Color Matching: I manually grade aerial footage to match the primary camera setups, ensuring the final film feels cohesive, not like a collection of random stock clips.
Practical Considerations for Your Shoot
If we are shooting in the Mumbai Metropolitan Area, I handle the operational side of things. If your location is outside the city, I am ready to travel. When you plan your schedule, keep in mind that drone work is highly dependent on light and weather. I prefer the 'Golden Hour' for those soft, warm gradients, but I also love the moody, desaturated look of a cloudy Mumbai monsoon day. Let’s talk about your vision, and we will find the right time to get the frame that matters.
Avinash
I’m Avinash. I spend my days chasing the perfect frame, whether that means trekking to a fort in Maharashtra or hovering over Powai Lake at sunrise. For me, a drone is not just a gadget, it is the brush I use to paint the story from the sky.
