About Serene Koi Ponds
When I paint these ponds, I build up layers of acrylics to create a depth effect, so the fish look like they are swimming under the water surface. It is a slow, meditative process, and I hope it brings that same quiet focus to your home.
My process varies based on the look you want. I use opaque gouache on 300 GSM cotton paper if you are looking for something matte and intimate for a desk or bookshelf. If you prefer a 3D feel with gloss and depth, I work with heavy-body acrylics on rigid canvas panels. These acrylic pieces are especially close to my heart—I seal them to protect against UV yellowing and dust, so the water ripples stay vivid.
Whether you have a specific color palette in mind for your room or you just want a piece that mimics the magic of a garden pond, we can work together to get the details right. I love incorporating the hidden elements of nature, like mossy rocks or lily pads, to make each scene feel like a secret escape.
