About The Newborn Story: Those Fleeting First Days
I plan these sessions with a 3-hour window, specifically to allow for plenty of time for feeding, changing, and soothing your little one. You do not need to stress about a strict schedule, as we move at your baby’s pace, capturing genuine moments during the natural breaks in your day.
When I arrive at your home for a newborn session, I am not looking for the perfect, stiffly posed shot. I am looking for the way you cradle your baby, the quiet corners where you spend your afternoons, and the way the light hits your living room. Because these photos are taken in your own environment, the results are deeply personal and authentic to who you are as a family.
My approach is simple. I avoid heavy props and complicated setups. Instead, I use your home’s existing furniture and natural window light to create a soft, timeless aesthetic. Whether it is a classic black and white close-up of a tiny hand or a wider shot of the whole family on your bed, the goal is to freeze the emotion of this fleeting time.
I also focus heavily on the connection between everyone in the room. This includes siblings and grandparents. I find that when we are in your space, everyone relaxes, and that is when real, candid interactions emerge. We can capture those sleepy yawns, the first movements, and the protective gaze of a parent. If you prefer an outdoor setting for a slightly different look, we can discuss that, but the in-home lifestyle approach remains my primary way of telling your newborn story. These sessions are about documentation, not production.
