Training isn't about control; it's about clear communication. I don't believe in cookie-cutter fixes. Here is how I build a real relationship between you and your dog, helping you become the leader they need.

The most important part of my job is not just training the dog, but training the family. We hold detailed training transfer sessions to ensure the owners can confidently maintain the dog's progress long after our program ends.

When I first meet a new dog, especially a nervous one, I don't force interaction. I start by simply being a calm, predictable source of good things, like chicken. The relationship builds from this foundation of trust, not pressure.

To have a balanced relationship with your dog, you need to be multi-dimensional. You can't just be the "fun" person. It's important that all family members share in both the fun activities and the necessary ones, like vet visits or nail trims.

People sometimes ask why they need to use treats. Think of it like a salary. While I don't believe in constantly bribing a dog, rewarding a good choice reinforces the behavior and keeps your dog motivated to work with you.

Getting a dog is a huge commitment. Before you bring a puppy home, it's so important to ask yourself if you are truly ready for the financial, emotional, and time commitment for the next 10 to 15 years.

When choosing a dog, it's easy to get caught up in looks. However, I always advise people to prioritize temperament and personality. You will be living with that personality for many years, so it's important to choose a dog that fits your lifestyle.

I started Mitali's Board and Train because I realized I could help more dogs with complex behavioral issues if I had more time with them. Our facility allows us to do multiple sessions a day and create lasting change.

About My Training Philosophy

The most important part of my work isn't training your dog; it's training you. It is easy to teach a dog a new skill in a facility, but that doesn't help if they don't listen to you at home. That is why I require dedicated transfer sessions for every program. I don't just hand over a 'trained' dog; I teach you how to maintain the results, so you can continue the work long after our sessions end.
