Sacred and Spiritual Home Interiors
A place for prayer should be the most peaceful corner of your home. I design sacred spaces that blend deep reverence with aesthetic grace, creating a sanctuary where you can truly connect.
This 'Babaji room' is a masterpiece of spiritual design, an 'Architecture of Peace'. Every detail, from the ornate gold throne to the intricately patterned walls and brilliant chandelier, was crafted to create a space of pure reverence and tranquility.
About Sacred & Spiritual Spaces
When designing spiritual spaces like the one in Agra, my focus shifts from pure aesthetics to energy management. A puja room needs more than just a grand exterior; it requires thoughtful lighting that does not just illuminate but creates a serene, meditative environment. We often integrate concealed cove lighting with soft, warm tones to highlight specific spiritual elements, ensuring the space feels like a true retreat away from daily noise.
Designing a space for prayer involves understanding the specific rituals and values of the family. It is not just about placing an idol; it is about creating an 'Abhivyakti' (expression) that aligns with your faith. For the Agra residence featured here, we used a mix of marble and gold leafing to establish a sense of purity and importance, balanced against the warmth of the wood and soft indirect light.
Designing for Peace
- Spatial Flow: We ensure the layout allows for comfortable movement during prayer, whether you prefer sitting on the floor or a bench.
- Materiality: We use natural materials like marble, stone, and solid wood that age gracefully and retain a sense of grounding.
- Lighting: We avoid harsh direct bulbs. Instead, we use layered, soft-focus lighting to define the altar and the backdrops, creating a glow that helps you focus.
- Acoustics: In modern homes, noise is a distraction. We plan wall finishes and ceiling details to dampen ambient sound, allowing you a quiet moment of reflection.
Every project is different because every faith is different. Whether you need a small, minimalist corner in a bedroom or a dedicated room with intricate details, my process starts by listening to your requirements and how you wish to feel when you step into this space.
