I’m Dilshad Ansari. I believe in sharing, not hiding, techniques. Explore my free video lessons, from hair science basics to pro-level colour correction hacks.

I am bringing you a 30-day hair program packed with my 15 years of industry experience. In this series, I cover everything from the basics of hair science to advanced chemical work, all for free, to help you grow as a stylist.

Day 1 of my program starts with the absolute basics: what is hair? I explain that hair is a dead cell made of keratin protein and break down the difference between the hair root and the hair shaft, which is essential knowledge for any stylist.

In Day 2, we dive into the three main layers of hair, starting with the cuticle. I explain how this protective outer layer works, what makes it open and close, and why that's critical for every service you perform in the salon.

For Day 3, I explain the most important layer of the hair: the cortex. This is where all chemical treatments happen, and it contains the hair's natural bonds and colour pigments. Understanding the cortex is key to mastering colouring and straightening.

On Day 4, I break down the four main types of hair: straight, wavy, curly, and coily. I also explain the different patterns within each type, so you can properly identify your client's hair and choose the right technique.

Day 5 is all about melanin, the pigment that gives hair its colour. I explain the two types, eumelanin and pheomelanin, and why Asian and European hair have different natural colours and textures.

Understanding pH balance is crucial, so on Day 6, I define what it is. I explain the pH scale from 0 to 14 and why a normal hair pH of 4.5 to 5.5 is the goal for healthy, shiny hair.

In Day 7, we explore acidic and alkaline hair. I show you how to identify each type and explain how chemical processes can raise the hair's pH level, and what products to use to restore its natural balance.

Many stylists are afraid of using blonder, but on Day 8, I demystify it. I teach you the right way to use it, emphasizing the importance of selecting the correct developer volume, like 20 volume, to avoid damage and achieve clean results.

On Day 9, I cover fundamental colour theory. I explain primary, secondary, and tertiary colours and how they are created, which is the foundation for all hair colouring work you will ever do.

About Hair Pro Knowledge Bank: My Free Video Lessons

Start by understanding the why before the how. Many stylists rush into chemical work without understanding the cuticle and cortex structure, which is why treatments often fail. In these videos, I break down the science of hair anatomy—pH balance, developer selection, and melanin—so you stop guessing and start creating professional, long-lasting results every single time.
