About Timeless Black & White

When I shoot in black and white, I look for textures that color often masks, like the roughness of a stone wall or the fabric of your clothes. It is not just about turning down the saturation; it is about how I use my Sony A7 to catch the contrast and depth in your expression, ensuring the focus stays entirely on your connection.

I use monochrome to remove distractions. When we are at a crowded location or a busy heritage site, color can sometimes pull the eye away from the two of you. By removing color, I can isolate your expressions and the way you look at each other.

How to prepare for your B&W session:

  • Wear solids: Patterns and logos are distracting in monochrome. Solid colors or textured fabrics like linen, wool, or silk work best.
  • Contrast is key: I look for light and shadow. If you are comfortable, we can shoot during the golden hour to get strong silhouettes or hard shadows that define the shape of the frame.
  • Keep it candid: The strongest black and white photos I take are the ones where you forget I am there. I will guide you, but I will not ask you to hold a pose for too long. If you want a shoot that feels classic, moody, and focused on your chemistry, this is the right style.
