About Behind the Cone: The Application Process
When I work, I use a fine-tipped cone with my own organic henna paste, which allows for the precise, fluid lines you see in these videos. Whether I am crafting a complex jaali (net) pattern or a delicate floral vine, the secret is consistent pressure and steady pacing. If you are curious about a specific element, such as cutwork or shading, I am happy to discuss how we can incorporate that into your design during our initial chat.
The Art of SABR (Patience)
Mehendi is a practice that cannot be rushed. My process is rooted in the belief that good art needs time. When I apply henna, especially for brides, I prefer to work in a calm environment where the design can be crafted with care. This patience is what allows for the rich, deep maroon stain that develops over time, using my home-mixed, organic henna paste.
Precision in Every Line
I specialize in several distinct techniques:
- Jaali Work: As shown in my videos, the classic net pattern requires a steady hand. It is about creating uniform dots and lines that flow with the natural curve of your hand.
- Cutwork & Shading: For designs that feature open space, I use cutwork techniques to create contrast. This makes the heavy floral or geometric elements stand out against your skin.
- Floral Detailing: From rose motifs to delicate vines, I find rhythm in the flow of the design. My style is a blend of Indo-Arabic influences, focusing on balance.
From Paste to Stain
Many clients ask about the dark stain. My technique involves applying the paste carefully so it dries evenly. I follow this up with a traditional lemon-sugar sealant, which keeps the henna moist longer. This helps the pigment penetrate the skin effectively. Whether you are in Malad, Kharghar, or anywhere else in the Mumbai area, my goal is to ensure that the process is as relaxing for you as the final design is beautiful.
