I personally apply a lemon and sugar sealant, which keeps the henna moist on your skin longer so the color penetrates deeper. Once you wash it off, you get that rich, reddish-brown result without using any harsh chemicals or artificial additives.
Getting a dark stain isn't just about the design; it's entirely about what is in the cone. Many commercially available henna cones use chemical dyes to get an instant black color, which can be harsh on your skin and cause allergic reactions. Because I make my own henna paste using only natural powder, essential oils, and water, you don't have to worry about skin irritation or artificial additives.
