Contemporary Ethnic and Festive Makeup Looks in Bangalore
Traditional attire meets modern glam. Whether it is for a festival, a wedding function, or a photoshoot, I create festive looks that stay fresh and glowy for hours.
A creative shot from a Durga Puja themed shoot. The makeup is soft yet defined, with an emphasis on the eyes looking towards the divine idol, creating a narrative of devotion and grace.
An artistic and symbolic portrait. Even with the face partially covered, the expressive eye makeup, featuring a classic winged liner and soft brown tones, tells a story of tradition and identity.
Another frame from the artistic Durga Puja series. The makeup is kept elegant and understated to fit the serene, creative atmosphere of the idol-making workshop, focusing on clean skin and expressive eyes.
A beautiful close-up capturing the essence of the festive look. The glowing skin, sharp winged liner, and traditional bindi create a look that is both classic and perfectly suited for a modern photoshoot.
A serene portrait of a North Indian bride. This angle shows the beautiful side profile, highlighting the intricate hair, jewelry, and the smooth, airbrushed-effect makeup base that will last all day.
A smiling bride, looking radiant and happy. The makeup is designed to look joyful and fresh, with soft golden eyes and a natural lip color that enhances her beauty without feeling heavy.
A traditional Rajasthani look, rich in color and detail. I created a classic look with defined eyes and a natural skin finish to complement the vibrant teal attire and authentic jewelry.
This look, taught in my pro makeup course, features a bold purple winged eyeshadow on a pastel blue lehenga. It's a perfect example of how to use color theory to create a striking, modern ethnic look.
A closer view of the modern lehenga look. You can see the precise application of the purple eyeshadow and the clean, sculpted finish of the base makeup, techniques I focus on in my classes.

About Contemporary Ethnic & Festive Looks
When we go for an ethnic look, people worry about the base getting cakey under heavy jewelry or bright lights. For these festive styles, I use a specific skin prep routine and long-wear products like Nars or Estee Lauder so your makeup stays breathable and glowy from the first ritual to the final photo.
Festive makeup shouldn't feel like a mask. When you are dressed in a heavy lehenga or traditional saree for a festival like Durga Puja or a wedding function, the last thing you want is makeup that feels heavy or starts sliding off after an hour.
My approach to contemporary ethnic looks is all about balance. We keep the base light and dewy, even if we are going for bold, dramatic eyes.
Why skin prep is the game-changer
Before I even pick up a brush, I focus on your skin. Flawless makeup chahiye (needs) skin prep. I use a combination of cleansers, toners, and lightweight moisturizers tailored to your skin type. This ensures that the foundation sits smoothly, whether you are under harsh event lighting or bright natural sunlight.
Modernizing traditional elements
I love playing with traditional colors but applying them with modern techniques. For a Rajasthani look or a modern sangeet ensemble, I might pair a traditional bindi and deep lip shade with a smoked-out wing or soft metallic lids. It is about creating a look that respects the tradition but feels right for a modern Bangalore event.
Tips for your festive look:
- Studio lights vs. Sunlight: I always adjust the intensity of the base based on where your event is.
- Touch-up proof: My looks are designed to last 12+ hours. I use high-end waterproof liners and setting sprays so you do not have to worry about sweat or humidity.
- Eye focus: Whether it is a soft glam or a sharp graphic liner, we ensure your eyes pop in photos while looking balanced in person.
If you have a specific outfit, send me a picture. We can discuss the color palette and plan a look that makes you feel confident and ready to celebrate.
