About this collection
When we build paths or patios, the secret isn't just the stone on top. It is what goes underneath. We excavate 10 to 15cm of ground for a proper sand or gravel bed to prevent the stones from sinking over time. This keeps your pathway level and prevents the water logging you often see in poorly done gardens. Whether you want natural Kadapa stone or a modern paver layout, this foundation is what ensures your hardscape stays solid for years.
Building Hardscapes That Last
A garden needs a balance between living plants and practical surfaces. I focus on creating hardscaping that looks great and handles heavy foot traffic or Chennai's seasonal rains without breaking down.
My Process
- Site Assessment: Every project starts with a look at the slope and drainage. I don't just lay stones; I ensure water flows away from your house and into the soil, not into your door.
- Foundation Work: For pathways, I excavate 10-15cm deep to create a stable sand or gravel bed. This acts as a shock absorber and prevents stones from sinking during the monsoon.
- Material Choices: I work with natural Kadapa and Granite because they are durable and age beautifully in our climate. If you prefer a cleaner look, I also install premium pavers.
- Pebble & Border Work: To separate your grass from your plant beds, I use clean brick or plastic edging. We install landscape fabric (weed mat) under all pebble areas so you don't get mud mixing with your stones or weeds growing through your design.
