Conceptual & Self-Portrait Photography in Mumbai
I do not just take pictures, I document the raw energy and mood behind the face. Whether you need an editorial portfolio or a soul-searching session, let us create something real together.
A self-portrait from my 'Desert Rose' series. The pose and moody lighting are meant to convey a sense of resilience and finding beauty in solitude.
A playful moment from the same series, breaking the serious mood. This shows the duality of being both introspective and joyful.
A strong, poised self-portrait against a stark yellow background. The composition is simple but powerful, focusing on silhouette and form.
A self-portrait capturing a burst of happy energy. I believe conceptual work can also be about celebrating moments of pure, unscripted joy.
A direct and engaging self-portrait from the 'Desert Rose' series. The goal was to create an image that feels both vulnerable and confident.
A black and white self-portrait exploring a femme fatale character. I don't smoke, but I use props like this to create a specific vibe and tell a visual story.
A playful, rebellious pose from the same black and white series. It's about breaking character and not taking oneself too seriously.
A short, cinematic video from my conceptual smoking series. The black and white edit and slow movement create a classic, film-noir atmosphere.
A short, conceptual ad film I created and self-shot about the 'fear of being seen'. It explores themes of vulnerability, self-acceptance, and seeing your own raw beauty.
About Conceptual & Self-Portraits
I work differently with these shoots. Because I frequently use myself as the subject to experiment, I understand the vulnerability involved in stepping in front of the lens. We will not just stand there posing, we will experiment with lighting, props, and moods until we hit that specific, unscripted vibe you are looking for.
My Approach to Conceptual Photography
Conceptual photography is not about being perfect, it is about being honest. When we plan a shoot, we start with a mood board—not to copy, but to define the feeling. Are we aiming for film-noir intensity, or something playful and bright?
Why Conceptual Shoots Matter
- Finding Your Vibe: These sessions help define your personal brand identity and how you present yourself to the world.
- Creative Freedom: Unlike catalogue photography, we have full license to experiment with color palettes, dramatic lighting, and avant-garde styling.
- Vulnerability: I have done enough self-shoots to know that the best shots happen when you let your guard down and forget the camera is there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a studio for this? Not necessarily. We can use natural light, heritage streets in Mumbai, or even your own space. I prefer environments that add context to your story.
How do we handle styling? You bring the clothes that make you feel like you. I curate the props, angles, and lighting to make sure they match the narrative we have decided on.
What about post-production? I handle all edits myself. Whether it is cinematic color grading or detailed skin retouching, I make sure the final result is a piece of art, not just a raw file. Every project is unique, so we will discuss your vision before we even pick up the camera.
