About Timeless South Indian Traditions
Styling for a traditional South Indian event is as much about structure as it is about aesthetics. I focus on ensuring your Kanjivaram or half-saree is draped for comfort, and more importantly, that heavy temple jewellery and floral braids are anchored securely so they remain comfortable from the first ritual to the final photo.
The beauty of a traditional South Indian look lies in the balance between heritage and comfort. Whether you are prepping for a Muhurtham, a Gowri Pooja, or a bangle ceremony, my goal is to enhance your natural features without altering your identity.
My Approach to Tradition
I use waterproof, high-definition foundations to ensure your look survives the humidity and heat of traditional rituals, particularly when you are seated near havan fire or stage lighting. For hair, I specialize in the construction of the traditional plait. I work with synthetic stuffers and real flowers to create a full, classic look that supports the weight of hair ornaments like the billai or tikka without causing discomfort.
Planning Your Look
My process begins with a virtual consultation where we discuss your outfit palette and jewellery. This allows me to plan the makeup tones and hair accessories before we even meet. I coordinate the finish of the skin to complement your Kanjivaram or pattu pavadai, ensuring the gold tones in your jewellery pop against the makeup.
I am based in Bengaluru and travel to wedding venues across India. If you have specific heirloom jewellery or a family-inherited saree that requires careful handling, I make sure the draping and setting techniques are tailored to keep these pieces safe and looking their best throughout the day.
