About Pro Tips & Makeup Education

A flawless base isn't about using expensive products, it is about understanding your skin type first. Whether it is mixing different primers for combination skin or choosing between a damp and dry beauty blender, the difference lies in the technique. If you are struggling with patchy makeup or wondering how to prep textured skin before a big event, these fundamentals are where you start.

Mastering the Basics

Many of my students come to me thinking they need a high-end kit to get a professional result. In reality, you need to understand how to prep the canvas. We spend significant time in my academy focusing on skin science because better skin equals better makeup. If you use a heavy silicone primer on dry patches, you will struggle with blending later. For combination skin, we often use different primers on the T-zone compared to the cheeks to balance oil and hydration.

Tool & Technique Hacks

  • Beauty Blenders: Do you know when to use a dry blender versus a damp one? Use a dry blender when you want to keep extra product on the skin for coverage, and a damp one when you want a smooth, diffused finish without build-up.
  • Tool Care: Maintaining your equipment is as important as the application. Rusty curlers or dirty brushes can ruin a look and cause skin issues. Cleaning them properly is a non-negotiable step.
  • The Texture Reality: A common myth is that makeup can 'erase' texture. As I always tell my students, makeup can cover pigmentation and discoloration, but it cannot hide natural skin texture. Accept that texture is real, and focus on clean, correct application rather than trying to hide your skin under layers of product.

These tips are just the surface of what I cover in my courses. Whether you are looking at our 8-week Diploma in Makeup & Hair Artistry or our intensive 25-day bootcamp, we focus on hands-on practice. We don't just teach the 'what', we teach the 'how'—yav riiti brush hidkobeku (how to hold a brush) and the step-by-step logic behind every look.
