Getting the base right for dusky skin is about one thing: color correction. Before applying any foundation, I spend time neutralizing deeper tones around your mouth and eyes to stop the makeup from turning ashy or grey. Many brides with dusky skin worry about makeup looking unnatural or too 'white'. The secret isn't a thicker layer of foundation. It is understanding your specific undertone. Whether you have warm, golden, or cool mahogany undertones, I select products that complement, not clash. I use premium, high-pigment brands like MAC and Kryolan to ensure the makeup holds its color without looking chalky.
The 'No-Mask' Philosophy
I believe makeup should enhance your features, not create a new face. For my brides, I focus on:

Whether we choose HD or Airbrush, the preparation steps remain the same. I start with a deep cleanse and hydration routine to ensure the skin is plump and ready. For dusky skin, I avoid shades that have too much pink or grey in them, as these are the main culprits behind that dreaded 'ashy' finish. Instead, I stick to orange or peach-based color correctors, followed by foundations with strong golden or olive bases.
