Behind the Brush: My Creative Process
Painting is how I channel my dreams and emotions. Peek into my studio to see how I transform ideas into canvas art.
People often ask me what my process is like. It’s a mix of quiet moments, bursts of inspiration, and just letting the paint flow. This video captures some of those moments where a blank canvas starts to tell a story.
I was completely mesmerized by fluid acrylics while making this piece. The way the colors blend and create these flawless gradients is just magical. This is me just playing and experimenting, falling in love with the process.
I find oil paints to be the best medium when I need freedom to smudge, erase, and repaint. A tiny bit goes a long way, which is very kifayati (economical). Here I am adding details to my koi fish painting.
The final step for every canvas painting is applying a gloss varnish. This protective layer prevents dust from settling in and keeps the colors vibrant for years to come, ensuring your custom artwork lasts a lifetime.
Sometimes a change of scenery is all I need. Here I am working on a piece out on my balcony, with music in my ears and the city in the background. My art is a reminder that pain is inevitable, but so is growth.
When people ask why I paint, this is the answer. It's a form of meditation for me, a way to connect with the divine. There is no single way to meditate; this is my way of finding peace and clarity.
The art I create is a direct reflection of how I am feeling or what I am dreaming. I use my tablet to sketch out ideas and then translate them onto the canvas, channeling my emotions into every brushstroke.
A candid moment of focus. Here, I'm referencing my digital sketch while working on a large canvas. This is how I ensure the final piece aligns with the initial vision we create together for a custom artwork.
Late-night painting sessions are often when I feel most creative. There's something about the quiet of the night that allows me to explore new ideas and mediums without any distractions.
I often find connections between art and other spiritual practices like astrology. My creativity feels deeply linked to my own journey of self-discovery, and painting is the art form where I feel most brilliant and alive.
About Behind the Brush: My Creative Process
I don't just pick up a brush and start painting. Every custom canvas begins with a digital sketch. This helps us align on the vision before I touch the canvas with paint. Whether I'm using oils for their flexibility or fluid acrylics for a vibrant pop, the goal is always a lasting piece of art that captures your unique story, not just generic decor.
How We Create Together
When you commission a piece from me, it is a collaboration. We start with a discovery session to talk about the 'why' behind the art. Are you looking for a surreal narrative or something contemporary? Once we decide on the vibe, I create a digital sketch. This step allows us to get the composition right before I start painting.
My Mediums and Techniques
I love working with both oils and acrylics. Oils are my go-to when I need to smudge, erase, or repaint—it gives me the freedom to layer emotions, and a little goes a long way, making it quite kifayati (economical). For vibrant, flowing textures, I turn to fluid acrylics. Every final painting is finished with a gloss varnish, which is essential to protect the colors from dust and keep the artwork fresh for years.
Why the Process Matters
For me, painting is a form of meditation. It is how I breathe easy and connect with my own journey. Because of this, I take my time with every project. Depending on the size of the canvas and the complexity of the narrative, a custom piece usually takes between 7 to 14 days for mid-size works, and up to 3 to 5 weeks for large format statement art. This timeline includes drying and varnishing, which I never rush, because your art deserves to last a lifetime.
