This is my Malkhamb performance team at a live event for Colors TV. The act centers on a traditional pole, where athletes perform incredible feats of gymnastics and strength, offering a unique and culturally rich experience for the audience.
About Modernized Traditional Indian Acts
For a traditional Malkhamb performance to work safely, we need a flat, hard, and unobstructed surface of at least 16ft x 16ft. It is a high-impact sport, so we ensure the staging is rock solid and the lighting is dialled in to make the athletes pop against the background before they even step on the pole.
It is not just about tradition; it is about impact. We bring Malkhamb—one of the oldest Indian sports—onto stages that usually host EDM or corporate launches. The contrast is what makes it work. You have athletes performing gravity-defying moves on a vertical pole, but we back it up with lighting and pacing that feels contemporary, not dated.
