Large-Scale Lighting Rigging & Structural Setup
When your lighting design demands extreme positioning, heavy-duty structural support, or weather-proof engineering, we provide the solution.
To create a convincing sunlight effect, we used an indigenously manufactured crane to precisely position an Arri T24 Tungsten Fresnel. Simultaneously, a 20x20 foot black fabric was used to block the actual sunlight, giving the cinematographer complete control over the scene's lighting.
This television commercial required a serious amount of ambient top light for a high speed 300 fps shot. We rigged 36 Creamsource Vortex8 units, providing enough power to shoot through a heavy custom diffusion frame built by the art department.
For the film 'Delhi Belly', we constructed a multi layer scaffolding tower to rig an Arri 18kW Fresnel. This allowed us to create a consistent sunlight effect for a house interior that was shot on a set, matching the exterior shots filmed at a real location.
This outdoor rig for an Amazon Prime TVC involved trussing a combination of Creamsource Vortex8 and Nanlux Evoke 1200B fixtures. Our experienced crew ensures that even complex, heavy duty rigs are built safely and efficiently.
Here, our team sets up a 96 bank 'Half Wendy' light on an 8x8 foot tower. This beast of a conventional fixture provides a massive wall of light and requires specialized rigging and large format 8x8 foot color temperature blue frames.
This setup shows a line of IP65 rated Creamsource Vortex8 lights rigged on a balcony for a high rise shoot. Using a pipe and stand system allows us to create a long, continuous source of light even in tight spaces.
For this outdoor TVC shoot, we created a large lighting rig blending multiple LED sources. The setup included Nanlux Dyno 1200c and Evoke 1200 fixtures, a Lightstar Airlite, and Arri Skypanels, all controlled wirelessly via LumenRadio DMX.
This studio setup features a mix of Creamsource fixtures to create a layered lighting environment. We used Vortex8 units with softboxes and SpaceX units with octaboxes for ambient light, while other SpaceX units with dome diffusion lit the background.
We rigged these Lightstar Luxed-9 LED fixtures onto a truss for a shoot in Mumbai. This kind of modular rigging allows for the creation of large, custom shaped light sources tailored to the specific needs of the shot.
This overhead rig was built for a TVC, featuring an Arri Skypanel 360 at the center surrounded by other Skypanels and Litegear Litetiles. Building such configurations on a truss provides a versatile and powerful top light solution.
About Large-Scale & Complex Rigging
We don’t just hang lights. For large-scale rigs, our team handles the entire structural engineering, from truss calculations to power distribution safety. Whether you need an 18kW Fresnel perched on a custom scaffolding tower or wireless DMX control for a stadium-sized array, we plan for load capacity, weather protection, and cable management before your crew even walks on set.
Engineering Your Lighting Vision
Large-scale rigging is about precision and physics. When we design a rig, we look at the location as an engineering problem first. If you are shooting on a high-rise balcony in Mumbai during the monsoons or building an interior set in a studio, the equipment needs to be secure and rated for the environment. Our crew uses IP65-rated fixtures and custom rain covers to keep production moving regardless of the weather.
Technical Expertise & Rigging Scope
We have moved beyond simple light placement. Our workflow includes:
- Truss & Scaffolding: Building multi-layer towers for high-angle light sources, ensuring stability for heavy units like 18kW HMIs.
- Power Distribution: Managing three-phase loads from silent generators to the set floor.
- Wireless DMX: Deploying LumenRadio and CRMX setups to eliminate cable runs, keeping your floor clean and efficient.
- Safety Protocols: Every overhead rig is load-tested. We use trained rigging gaffers and sparks who understand height safety and structural load distribution.
From Film to Digital
We brought the same rig-heavy approach to 'Delhi Belly' that we bring to modern TVCs. While the fixtures have evolved—from hot halogen lamps that required extra AC ducting to energy-efficient LED arrays—the fundamental requirement has not. You need a lighting partner who knows how to plan the rig, build it safely, and adapt when the Director of Photography decides to change the angle at the last minute.
Light And Grips
I'm Mulchand Dedhia, joined by my partner Hetal. We have been solving lighting puzzles on Indian film sets since the 35mm era. We do not just rent gear; we engineer the technical setups that make ambitious cinematography possible.
